Orvieto is one of the principal sights of the region of Umbria. Tourists shouldn’t miss Orvieto if they are visiting Umbria or southern Tuscany. The tuff on which Orvieto is located is itself riddled with tunnels and wells dating from Etruscan times to only a couple of hundred years ago.The Cathedral of Orvieto, built in 1285 in Gothic style is one of the most beautiful churches in Umbria, indeed in all of Italy.
The first stop will be Civita di Bagnoregio “the dying town”. The drive is about 2/h from Rome, once you arrive you will have time to visit the ancient town on your own in order to enter the old section you have to walk on a wooden bridge across the valley. The Orvieto & Civita Tour usually starts at 8AM. The driver will meet you right at the hotel lobby or at the address mentioned by you on the confirmation form.
From Bagnoregio you will drive for about 30 minutes through the beautiful Umbrian hills, rich with vineyards and olive groves, in order to reach the town of Orvieto. Here you can visit the beautiful gothic Duomo, the Well of St. Patrick And the Etruscan necropolis etc… After a good traditional Italian lunch it will be time to go back to Rome. Return is scheduled at 4:30PM, hoping you enjoyed the time you’ve spent with us.
