Siena is the best example of a medieval city. Thus built to highlight its rivalry with Florence also on an urban planning level. Over the centuries the town has retained its Gothic appearance, acquired between the 12th and 15th centuries. The history of Siena begins as an Etruscan settlement around the ninth century BC inhabited by a tribe called Saina. In the following centuries, during the reign of Emperor Augustus (1st century BC), like many cities in Tuscany, Siena became a Roman colony “Saena Julia”.
After meeting your driver at the port of Livorno you will head to Siena. You can also plan a short stop in the fortress city of Monteriggioni for a coffee break.Once you arrive in Siena you can visit the most important historical sites, the Duomo, the Battistero, Piazza del Campo where the famous horse race the “Palio di Siena” takes place every year.
Your second destination will be San Gimignano where you will arrive around lunch time. A medieval town rich in history, where its thirteen towers form the backdrop to the Tuscan countryside.

At your request you can ask our office to book lunch and wine tasting . We will take you to a local winery where you can drink the best Tuscan wines and local delicacies. A full meal will be served. Additional 60,00 Euros per person to be paid directly on spot. This option is a fixed menu.
